Finally, a new layout. This particular layout is special because it features photos taken by our staff member named Anima. Recently, we’ve received news that Anima passed away. It’s shocking, and disturbing, but may this layout showcase Anima’s remarkable photography. We dedicate this to her and may she have peace.
On a much brighter note, you may have noticed the latest little addition to the site: Cbox Jr! Mr. Cbox actually expired, much to our dismay.. But he left us a cute present before he left. As you can see, Junior is growing fast and taking up a lot of space. Pretty soon we’ll have to create another new layout for him to fit! Anyway, be sure to give our new bundle of joy some looove <3
You may have also noticed the lack of spotlights and highlights. We shall premier our next Spotlight on February 15, and our next Highlight will be on February 14, our small Valentine’s treat to you.
One more thing! Staff apps. We’ve put the old form back up, so if you’re interested in a position at Undi, give it a shot. :) Head over to our 'apply for staff' page for more information.
Okay, I swear this is the last thing: new affiliate!
A Drop of Romeo is the perfect place to go when you're craving a certain type of romance story. Historical? Check. Love triangle? Check. Love/hate? Check! And there's more categories to choose from, so get over to A Drop of Romeo and find yourself the perfect read.
Yes, an update! Just a quick one to let everyone know that Undiscovered hasn't died. It was just.. in a coma.
It's been a busy season, but Undi is slowly crawling out of hibernation, ready to start anew for the new year. First we must go over our modus operandi and make necessary changes. One of which, involves
new staff. We're still working out the kinks, but as soon as we're ready for applications I'll let everyone know in an update. Sooo if you've ever wanted to critique stories with a bunch of girls who give each other weird nicknames and adopt one another as family, stay tuuuned.
Ready for the new Spotlight? Here we go!
For all you fantasy fanatics out there looking for a great story to immerse yourself into, we've got your early Christmas present:
Darkest Light by
King of Kings. The first line alone is an excellent hook to a story guaranteed to have your complete attention. Awesome descriptions, powerful writing, and delightfully correct grammar and spelling as a bonus - what's not to love. Careful, though - your bum may go numb from sitting in that chair, glued to this story. Remember when we warned you about using the WC before reading Family Lies? Yep. We here at Undiscovered like to warn you about these things. We're just that nice.
A few faithful undies may have noticed the absence of our new Highlight last Friday. In all honesty, I (Hera) completely forgot. But it was Movie Night over at UL! When you gather with some of your favorite Undi pals and featured authors to watch and comment on a movie together, you tend to forget about other things. Like.. Highlights.
Not to worry! We've got you covered with a
Limelight for this week and next. Craving something realistic, fresh, and thought-provoking? Maybe something with a little drama and interesting characters?
The Art of Love Letters by
White Isle has you covered. Don't be fooled by the title - this little gem is not about romance. Rather, it revolves around friendship. Perfect read for the Thanksgiving holiday coming up (along with Darkest Light, of course).
As always, we urge you to give these stories a read and leave some feedback. Not many people review these days, you know? We're part of a dying breed. Let's try to keep this species alive!
(Interested in Movie Night? Head on over to
Undi-Land on Friday and Saturday nights.)
Wow, November already! Which means our next Spotlight will debut in
nine days. But, for now, it's time to introduce this week's Highlight :)
Our newest Highlight is a bit of a throwback to our romance roots here at Undiscovered.
Snow Owl by
Eire Rain is the perfect read if you're on the lookout for a story with that five-letter word we all love so much:
drama. Add in the dynamic characters, lovely writing, and a moving plot that will keep you clicking that mouse forward and you've got this gem of a story. As always, we encourage you to check it out and leave the author some feedback :)
Now, I want to briefly discuss something that has recently been brought to my attention. I've heard through the cyber grapevine that Undiscovered has been compared to All Kinds of Luck. AKoL sabotaged La Campanella for 'copying' their idea, and since some people out there have gotten it into their heads that Undi has sabotaged Ink, Paper, and Written Romance, we
must be akin to AKoL.
For the record, comparing Undiscovered to the likes of AKoL is completely ludicrous. Let's look at the facts, here. AKoL went around spamming cboxes, spreading rumors, and making false accusations. The staff of Undiscovered have been nothing but
courteous to IPWR, even wishing Aly luck with her site. We have never bombarded her with cries of 'you copied us!' or put others up to the task. The Undi Staff is better than that. So to accuse us of such folly is a virtual slap in the face to all of the fine people who work here.
This slandering of Undiscovered is completely uncalled for and unacceptable. I take these comments seriously, because even lies can do unrepairable damage to reputations. Undiscovered has been going strong for five months now, in harmony with other FP sites, and I'd hate to see it tarnished by this silly remark.
The bottom line is that we have never assaulted IPWR, nor will we ever do such a thing. Such comments directed at IPWR are not warranted by Undiscovered. That is all I'm going to say on the matter.
Alright, Undies, it's time for another Highlight.
If you took supernatural, blended it with romance, sprinkled in some family drama and added a healthy dash of good grammar and developed characters, you'd end up with a tasty read called
Family Lies by
ms silverquill. All the supernatural staples are here -- ghosts, demon hunters, dark magic -- along with an engaging plotline that will leave you glued to the screen. So take our advice: Before starting this story, be sure to use the facilities because you may not want to move until you reach the latest chapter!
Family Lies is also nominated for Le Supernatural Award (Incomplete) at
La Campanella Awards. So if you've read the story and think it should win the category, lend a vote ;)
Okay, okay. Yes, we're once again late with debuting our highlight but I can guarantee you that this highlight is worth the wait!
A M T by
writtenbyrandom is for all you slash fans out there! Shocking, isn't it? A slash story that's lacking in reviews?!? You definitely don't see that every day. We're also bringing diversity into Undiscovered too. First we have a story written by a
male author and now we have a slash story. Exciting, non?
A M T is an emotional story following two male best friends. Although their friesndship is as strong a a brick wall, they can't be any more different. So what exactly would happen when one of them starts to feel a certain desire for the other?
As a newcomer to slash, I really enjoyed this story. Some of you may find slash as completely disgusting and some of you may have thought about venturing into the deep, dark, unknown world of slash. If you fit into the latter category, I highly recommend A M T as your starter slash story. Not only is it well written, but it's not
hard-core slash. If you fit into the former category, I would still suggest that you give it a try because it may not be as bad as you imagine it to be. As for the avid slash fans, although this story is a bit of a cliché, it's a well-done cliché that all readers can, and will, enjoy.
Happy reading!
PS. Scroll down to read a little update about A Hell of a Town by Mister Black.
New Spotlight!
A Hell of a Town by Mister Black. Yay!
EDIT: Now for a little more detail.
In A Hell of a Town, fallen angels - now called
demons - roam the earth, inhabiting human bodies and recruiting followers. Caught in the middle are a string of characters, all connected somehow, but all with different motives and issues.
Let me just say this: I loved this story. Personally I think it's an amazing piece of work that deserves some attention, and I highly recommend it. Simply put, A Hell of a Town is a helluva story. Don't let this gem go unread - check it out ;)
Hey Undies! We've got a huge update for you this evening, so let's get started!
There are a couple things you may have already noticed. First, most obviously, the layout. This one was made by moi (Hera) as I have become somewhat of a "Junior Picasso." Meaning, I definitely ain't no professional Picasso with the graphics, but I'm learning my way around Photoshop. Anyway, this layout is an autumn theme heavily inspired by
La Campanella's latest layout. (Notice the flower.)
In addition, some pages have been removed and some blended together. Our affiliates are now on the Links page, the podcast and such are at Bonus Features, and we now have a Faq/Glossary page. Hopefully navigation is a bit easier now and less cluttered.
The second thing you may have noticed is the lack of Highlight
again. Okay, so we didn't have a Highlight for you last weekend (my apology) but we have a new feature and story to make up for it! Our latest feature is called the
Limelight. A Limelight is a story that is a cross between a Spotlight and a Highlight. On rare occasions we'll find a story that fits nicely in the middle, so Limelights will not be frequent. In fact, they will be random. You'll never know when to expect them! It should be noted that during a Limelight, there will not be a Highlight until the Limelight finishes its two-week run. (But there will be a Spotlight.)
Our first Limelight is
Willa by
Fair Winds. If you love a good historical romance in the Jane Austen vein, this is your story. Willa is actually very close to breaching our review limit, but again, we here at Undiscovered think it deserves a lot more attention than it's getting.
The third new thing - the cbox (Mr. Cbox). Mr. Cbox is now premium so you can register your name if you want. To do so, click "profile" in the bottom right corner of the cbox. Put your name in, then a password, and bingo you're ready to go! Mr. Cbox can get quite lonely, so be sure to feed him lots of attention and posts! That's what a cbox is for, after all, eh?
If you've ever wondered what it's like at Undi's headquarters and you've dreamed of becoming part of our family, now is your chance! We are now seeking staff. In particular, we'd like Story Testers - people who read and judge our submissions - but all positions are open. Head on over to our Apply for Staff page to request a form :)
Over at
Undi-Land, our staff member Kaitlin is hosting an October writing contest. Create a monster profile for the chance to win prizes! Deadline is October 31.
Speaking of Halloween (er, kinda), we've gotten great responses to our podcast question so far.
If you could be a supernatural creature, what would you be? - if you haven't answered that question yet, journey over to our
Bonus Features page and give us the best you can come up with! Awesome answers will be read on the podcast, coming out later this month.
Today just happens to be Undi's 4 Month Anniversary! Yep, four months. We've been operating since June.. time certainly feels like it's flyin' a little. My little Undi is growing up so fast.. *sniff*
Whew, alright, I think that's it. As you can see, lots of stuff going on around Undi. And there will be more special features to come, so be sure to check back soon ;)
It's Friday! You know what that means... new Highlight :)
Wings by
Rachek is a fantasy story blended with technology. The writing is beautiful and the plot is refreshing - this could use some serious lovin' - check it out and review? ;)
Here's a question:
If you could be a supernatural creature, what would you be? Wait! Hold that thought and head on over to our
poll page to give us your answer. The best answers will be revealed on the next podcast, coming out next month in light of the Halloween season.
Save those rotten tomatoes for somebody else; the podcast is out! Episode Two: Getting to Know Your Undies.
*Quick note: This episode is meant to help our listeners get to know us better. Because if your audience can't connect with you, well, what's the fun in that? Hopefully you'll feel like you're hanging out with a bunch of happy, slightly insane friends while you listen :)
On our next podcast we'll be back to business - there
will be an author interview along with some actual FictionPress-writing-reading-related stuff, so stay tuned ;)
The long-awaited new layout. :D Sorry it took so long - we've been procrastinating a lot lately. So...what do you think? This layout is, once again, made by the lovely Leila. Send her some love! I personally really like it. The colours (yes, it's
colours, Hera) are bright and cheery - something that I definitely need now that school started again and everything seems dreadful.
Within this new layout, you will find a few things updated such as: the staff page (we have new staff members! But we are still looking for more), the Highlighted stories page with the taglines (The Grim Reaper still needs one - any suggestions?), and the Spotlighted stories page with the banner for House of Wolves! The gorgeous avatars (square-shaped graphics) were made by Lauren and the beautiful banner was made by Indie, a new resident Picasso. Send them some love as well!
Did anybody else notice the fabulous banner at the very top of the page? Although Hera denies that she has any Picasso skills, we can all see from the banner and the two avatars on the Spotlighted page (made by her) that she was lying to all of us - she's probably a direct descendant of Picasso himself! (Oh man, that was a long sentence...did it even make sense?)
On another note,
Undi-Land has been really quiet lately. Where did you all disappear to? The first one to liven up UL again will get a big picture of an Undie! :D
As Hera said before, the podcast will be out. Hera already has it all cut and edited, I just have to adjust the voicing and volumes so that it won't damage your ears. I'm setting a deadline for myself (Monday) so if the podcast isn't out by then, you all have my permission to chuck rotten tomatoes at me.
On the heels of a great Spotlight, we now have for you a great Highlight:
Bolt from the Blue by
CassandraRose526. It's got romance, superheroes, humor - really can't go wrong with this one! So for those of you who like the supernatural/romance blend, this story is straight up your alley.
The Spotlight has been updated on all pages now, and all past Highlights are now archived in the Highlight section. But many of them still need a little tagline. If you have one, feel free to email us or drop it in the cbox.
As LilyAnna has said, yes, the new podcast ep will be out very soon - I'm absolutely serious this time. Speaking of the podcast, there is now a convenient cbox on our station page, so you can comment while you listen. Compliment, complain, clarify - put the cbox to good use!
It's that time of the month again... Spotlight Day! September's Spotty is the fantasy adventure
Pha'dora: Green Eye, Blind Eye by
Sarika. Personally, I zipped through the story quite fast, it was such an enjoyable read. The plot is fresh, the characters are awesome, and the writing is rich. The only
bad thing is, Sarika hasn't updated the story in over a year (eek). So, if you do get the chance to read it, please please please flood the story with reviews of love and beg for an update! Strength in numbers, people. Strength in numbers.
The graphic to your left was made by moi on
very short notice. Lately things have been horribly disorganized at Undi's headquarters. So the new podcast episode, the new layout, and all other graphics are put on temporary hold, at the moment.
I apologize for the lack of Highlight last Friday - whenever the middle of the month comes around, Undi is in a bit of a frenzy with the Spotlight and all. Rest assured, there WILL be a Highlight this Friday :)
Ah, yes. September. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm relieved that August is over and done with. Now, without further ado, our latest Highlight story:
It's Greek for Love by
judevanderhall. You may look at 'judevanderhall' and think,
hmm, that username seems familiar. Well, it should! Her story, The Rules of Engagement, was a recent SKoW winner. But here at Undiscovered, we want to shed some light upon her seemingly overshadowed, shorter story - It's Greek for Love. Obviously, it's in the romance vein, so if you're into that check it out~
Quick update! New Highlight:
The Night Cafe by
Tawny Owl. In the mood for something supernaturally funny? Head on over to The Night Cafe and get your fix ;)
As for certain pages and links not being updated-- it's usually not my job, since I'm not
LilyAnna the html person, so that's why there's such a delay on that. Imma workin on it.
UNDISCOVERED IS STILL ALIVE!
Hera has been away from the comp for the past few days, so Undi began slipping down an inactive slope. But Hera is now back and working extra hours to get everything caught up.
You probably noticed our beautiful new Spotlight graphic for House of Wolves, created by the awesome
Lauren. <3
We also have two Highlights for you this week. I know, I promised a Highlight on Wednesday, but as we all know, it never happened. Sooo I present to you: two Highlights on this Friday evening! The first Highlight is an extremely well-written, humorous story called
A Quiet Crusade by Theresa Green. Our second Highlight is a romance/horror mix titled
The Grim Reaper by Polished Gem. Definitely, definitely check these stories out and leave some reviews! :)
Now, concerning the podcast: LilyAnna, unfortunately, can't record while she's in China, so I'll be spending the weekend editing what we do have recorded. It's no big deal, really, we just felt that more needed to be added to the episode. But since that isn't possible and Lil will be away for quite some time... I'm just going to release the new podcast sometime next week. I promise you, our next episode will be more tidy!
Staff Apps. Just a warning: I'm close to closing the staff applications, so if you're interested in working with Undi, fire off that application. We could always use more readers, and you are more than welcome to join our Undiscovered family :) So make haste and apply, before it's too late!
As you may have noticed, we did not have a highlight story picked out last week. This is due to the fact that we weren't able to find a good enough one in the abundance of story recommendations that we have. It is also because we don't have enough staff which is why
we are now seeking staff members again. The staff form is up and running so just go on ahead hit that 'apply for staff' button. :D Pretty please?
In other news, we have a new affiliate.
Project Fiction is a site that creates a list of good stories from everywhere on the web. So you'll find feature stories from Quizilla to Mibba to FP. Go check 'em out! It'll save you the trouble of digging through those sites yourself.(:
Our newest Highlight is up!
Child of Symphony by
ShiiChan99 is only eight chapters in, but it impressed us enough to put it in the Highlight position. Give it a read and be sure to give ShiiChan reviews and love :)
In other BIG news, Undiscovered now has its own fan community! Join
http://undi-land.ning.com/ to chat with other readers and writers - including the staff here at Undiscovered. There's photos, video, music, discussions, and much more. Become an Undie today!
*Hera's second time typing up this update because the stupid thing didn't save it the first time*
Our latest Highlight story is now here.
Erase and Rewind by
LeilaX is a romance with a hint of mystery-- which is one of the most delightful combinations. Falling in love while feeling the weight of suspense? Awesome.
Speaking of stories, we never seem to have a large supply here at Undiscovered. Did you write a great story that has been swept under the radar? Or do you know a story like that? If so, send it in! At our headquarters, every story is carefully reviewed and given special attention. So send those puppies in. If it's great, we'll know, and that story could very well end up as one of our next features :)
SKoW's round 8 is now in full force. I'm happy to report that every single one of our featured stories has garnered a nomination! It's crazy, and I'm a bit verklempt. Seeing those once undiscovered stories now receiving the praise they deserve and reviews-- even nominations now! A part of me feels like a proud mama, holding back tears. My little Undiscovered features are all grown up now.. *tear*
Anyway, if you haven't already, head on over to SKoW and VOTE! This would be a good place to plug my own nomination (Sweepers for Punk'd Award!) buuut whadya know... To Feel the Sun is also nominated in the same category. Go Aurette! I'm happy for all of the nominees, really. Personally I haven't read most of the noms yet, but that is on the To Do list.
Now I'm just rambling. Bottom line: Check out Erase and Rewind, send in story recommendations, and vote in the SKoW awards. That is all~
The
podcast is up. And for those of you wondering about the Highlighted page, that will be updated too (yeah, we realize we're three/four weeks late on that xD). I was going to update them altogether, but some people were very persistent, which is why the podcast is coming out a little earlier.
Our newest Highlight story is up!
Everybody Wants Ryan by Armith-Greenleaf is a funny love story full of dynamic characters. Looking for a good read for the weekend? You can't go wrong with Everybody Wants Ryan.
Upon some advice given to us from our lovely Picasso, we altered the layout a bit. Now, you won't
only see a man when you first step onto our page and go "WTF? What site am I on?". xD After my little mishap with the Spotlight graphics, Leila, once again, has wonderfully helped us fix that problem. So give Leila some lovinnnng!
1. Spotlight Story is up! And on time too (well a little later than planned but as long as it`s on the right day, non?)! My Entity by Jennifer Leigh is a great read. I can`t emphasize enough just how amazing of an author Jennifer Leigh is. However, she doesn`t get the recognition she deserves, so go read, read, read!
2. New layout. Both layout and Spotlight graphics are made by the lovely Leila - our newest Picasso. Send some love her way!
3. Is the new way of doing `The Gist` more effective or do you guys prefer the points? (I couldn`t think of a way to summarize our spotlight story down to a few points when I first tried to do `The Gist`).
4. Hera has contacted a nasty virus on her computer. The consequences of that? The podcast will not be out for some time and Hera will not be around the site very often. She will try to check in as much as she can. She can also check her
email on her phone so if you have any questions or comments specifically for her, that`s where you can reach her. Pray for her computer guys!
5. I know we never really thoroughly explained about the 'asked us' section so I'm going to take this chance to do it. The ask us section is for
you to ask questions that you would like us to answer on the podcast. The questions can be anything from writing advice to relationship advice. It can also be used to ask general questions like 'when will the spotlight story get updated' (like the one I've received a few hours ago because I was taking so dang long).
EDIT
1. Hera said her virus might be gone. Isn't confirmed yet, but it's definitely something!
2. I swear I had this layout all coded and done
hours ago. Unfortunately, my internet busted out on me because of the severe thunderstorm outside. Thus, I am updating now.
We have a new Highlight story up! Be sure to check out
Taking Down Tanner by
i found nemo.
We also have a new affiliate--
Sweet Revolution Awards is, well, an awards site. Except they're all about slash stories~ Give them some love!
The poll ends tonight, so if you haven't voted yet, now is your chance! *coughvoteforlilyannacough* We've done the interview with Aurette, so fans of To Feel the Sun be sure to catch our podcast when we release it (which will be soon!).
In other news, we have another amazing Picasso! Leila is an extraordinary graphic designer, so she'll be in charge of the layouts from now on. You can all breathe a sigh of relief in knowing that you no longer have to suffer from my horrible layouts x3
I know, we've been switching around layouts a
lot so we're sticking with this one for a little while. Expect Leila's debut layout within a week or so.
By the way, if you've submitted a story recommendation to us recently, you should have received a copy of your form back. If you have, that means we got your recommendation. If not, then we probably didn't. As for everyone that submitted a story in the past-- trust me, I'm pretty sure we got all of them. If you're unsure, feel free to send in your recommendation again.
We're not crazy. I swear to you, we're not. We just happen to like making new layouts a bit too much. In other news, please check out the poll page and vote which staff member you would like to hear confessing their deepest, darkest, dirtiest secret(s). By the way, I lost my
KEY -cough- recently, anybody seen it? Anyways, if you're stuck, not knowing who to vote for, I'm sure we all learned that the first answer is always right on multiple choices! So
choose whoever is the first person on the list! -is completely oblivious as to who the first person on the list is (:-
I have a feeling this update may be taken down
very soon >_> I love you guys! Toodle-
Lou!
---
Oooh,
LilyAnna is a sneaky one, isn't she? Because I'm so gracious and nice, I'll leave her little rambling up~
Okay, so if for some reason you haven't noticed, we've got a little poll going on. To vote, simply click on the "poll" link in the navigation bar. You can only vote
once so make your vote count! The results will be revealed on our first podcast, where the winner (or... loser) of the poll will confess to us their dirty little secret. So stay tuned for that~
Obviously, we have a new layout. Unfortunately, it's pretty obvious that I made this myself. It's only temporary though, until we find someone who can REALLY work Photoshop and churn out beautiful layouts. Until then, you're all stuck with me and my ugleh graphics. So, hey, if you know someone that's good with Photoshop, send them over this way. Everyone will thank you :)
Also, we've been receiving some messages from people wondering if we got their recommendation. Mea culpa, guys. I should have thought about sending out a form to let you know that I got your submission. Right now I'm working on it, so if you submitted a story to us, expect an email soon.
~Hera
Hello, everyone! This is Hera, back from vacation with bruises and scabs as souvenirs (that's what happens when you play around with little kids - they beat the stuffing out of you). SO, a
lot has happened over the week that I was gone. I'd like to take the opportunity to thank LilyAnna and the rest of the staff for taking care of my "baby" while I was away (I know, I've thanked you like a billion times already, but what can I say - I luv you guys).
Things continue to pick up steam around Undiscovered as we progress. Guess what day it issss... Yep! It's Highlight Friday! (We don't actually call it that, but it's true). Last week's Highlight was
The Boy Who Talks to God by
Unbridled (if you haven't read it yet, grab that mouse and click that link!). This week's Highlight is
What You Need by
dreambrother63. It's a bit of a shift in gears from our last Highlighted story, but hey, a little variety never hurt anybody amirite? ;D
Remember our motto: Read, Review, Love! <3 (Okay that's not really our motto, but it should be)
In other news, Undiscovered is gearing up for our first
podcast. Right now the details are still kinda fuzzy, but I can tell you that there will be an interview with Aurette, the author of our Spotlight story
To Feel the Sun. Do you have any questions you'd like us to ask Aurette? From where she got her idea for the story to whether she prefers milk chocolate over dark chocolate - send those questions over to
undiscovered.staff@gmail.com. All we ask is that the questions be polite and appropriate, mmkay?
Currently, we are
flooded with recommendations, but it has been a true joy to read through them. Keep those stories coming! Also, there are still openings for staff - particularly in the Story Tester and Picasso departments. So if you're interested in working with the team, now would be a good time to send along an application.
Okie doke, have a great weekend everyone! And for those of you in the U.S. - Happy Fourth of July~
Oh, and please excuse my rabid use of parentheses >.>;
Look look! A new layout! This layout is a collab by the lovely Lou and LilyAnna [ooh, an alliteration!]. We have two new staff members - Alex and Aime. If you look to the left, you will see the gorgeous icon our newest [and only] Picasso, Aime, has made for our Spotlight Story. And then if you click the link to "Spotlighted", you will see a wonderful banner and avatar. Yes! Spotlight stories get their own banner, icon, and avatar. So get those recommendations in! Aren't the graphics just so lovely? Send some love to Aime!
I'm sorry I didn't mention this in my last update, but Highlighted stories will be release every Friday. We decided on this because we all know ya'll like to snuggle down with a good story sometime during the weekend whilst you procastinate away on your homework. For now, the Highlighted stories will be released every Friday at 8:00 p.m. EST only because I [LilyAnna] live in this time zone. It might be even later once Hera gets back since she lives in PST.
Oh right, I also forgot to mention this in the last update, but if you check the guidelines, you will see that we have raised our minimum chapter amount to at least 5 chapters. If it is less than 5 chapters, you can still recommend them, but those stories will be put onto our 'to watch' list [unless the staff unanimously agrees that even though it's only 5 chapters, there's enough content for the story to be featured]. I know we don't have a set rule as to how many reviews there needs to be for a story to be 'acceptable', but we are going by the general rule of less than an average of 10 reviews per chapter [unless it's a special case].
Do you see anything funky? Let us know on the cbox please! Oh, and is the font colour hard to read [Lou and I took a
lonnnng time deliberating over what colours to use xD].
Yay! Updates, updates, updates! [It's a long and big one!]
Kay, so there have been quite a few things that were done over the past two days. Firstly, as I hope you guys noticed, our highlighted section was jumpstarted by the story
The Boy Who Talks to God by
Unbridled. This story is
gold. However, it's one of those stories that you have to read slowly to milk out all of its goodness. Don't just skim through it! Also, don't let the religion topic turn you off either because although it plays a large role in the story, nothing controversial/offensive/explicit was written by the author. Trust, this story is worth it! Don't forget to send the author some love and encouragement after reading.
Secondly, we've got not one, not two, but
three new affiliates: Some Kind of Wonderful Awards, FictionPress Supernatural Stories Awards, and Reviewing the Hottest Romance on FictionPress. The first two affiliates are both award sites to recognize the amazing authors who've spent time and effort into bringing us the entertainment we find on FP. SKoW Awards is geared towards romance fictions and is currently in their nomination period. FPSSA is geared towards supernatural fictions is also currently accepting nominees. So go nominate some stories! [Don't forget to mention the 'undiscovered' ones to us though!]. RtHRoF is exactly what its name says - it gives great in depth reviews of many romance stories on FictionPress, so check them out!
Thirdly, who exactly makes all this at Undiscovered happen? Behind the scenes are magnificent people who tirelessly read all the recommendations sent in to Undiscovered. Now you can find out a bit about each of them on the Staff page! Although, it would be nice if we could each get a staff avatar...
Which brings me to the next topic!
We are still in need of Picassos! All you ladies and gents with your French berets, come introduce yourself and your works to
us! We would love to see your masterpieces and have you as part of our staff team!
Lastly, [yes, finally] do you want to suscribe to our weekly Highlighted and monthly Spotlighted updates? Well now you can! Our C2 can be found under the 'Links' section which will lead you to right where you need to be to start suscribing.
Whoo, that was a pretty long update. There are other tidbits around that may have change but if I listed everything, this post would take up way too much space! Hope I didn't overwhelm you with its massiveness!
P.S. For you FireFox users, does the spacing of the content [like here] seem better now? Hera and I both didn't realize how inconsistent the line spacing of the content was on FireFox because we both use IE. Then, yesterday, I had the sudden urge to test out the edited pages on FireFox...and nearly fainted [What can you say, I'm a perfectionist].
The wait is over! For those of you who have been patiently checking up on this site for the Highlighted story updates, you can put your little hearts to rest. It is a guaranteed fact that we will be starting our Highlighted section this week. Exactly
when this week? You'll just have to keep checking to find out. Haha. Spam the cbox with some love (;
Just on another note, this is actually LilyAnna updating because Hera will be MIA for the next two weeks [-cough- she's actually on a cruise]. However, there's no need to fret because the staff here will take care of everything. And curious as to who exactly these lovely, awesometastic staff members are? [Well, other than me, obviously]. Check in within the next couple of days as I'll be working on the staff bios page. And if you have an itch to become one of us, please do so! We're still missing
graphic designers and I swear if you can become Undiscovered's
Picasso, I will literally worship the ground you walk on!
Note: for those of you who are applying to be a Picasso, please send a sample of your work to: undiscovered.staff@gmail.com.
And lastly,
SKoW's nomination period started today! Don't dillydally, go nominate some stories! -pssst, makes sure the
Most Humorous category gets some love.-
Anyways, to wrap this all up nicely:
be expecting updates within the next few days on .. well just about everything!

Whoot, new layout! I made this one myself, so it's more personalized for the site. It's got this summery feel that I like~
You'll find that many of the links to the right are under construction, so that's what I'll be working on for the next few days. Then on Tuesday I'm
off to Orlando for a relative's baby shower (ack) so I'll be gone for a week and deprived internet access. Considering the amount of time I spend on la
computadora, a week is going to feel like a loooooong time.
There are still staff openings! Apply before the chance goes bye-bye.

We have our second affiliate! Tough and Dirty sends out newsletters with information that
any member of FictionPress (and even non-members) can find useful. There's author interviews, interesting articles, advice, story reviews, and writing
prompts. Definitely go sign up~!
Also, I'd just like to add that we have plenty of room for more staff. I decided it'd be useful if I set up a nice little page of Staff info, so be
sure to check that out if you're interested :)
In the meantime, we're working hard to uncover those hidden gems on FP. Trust me, it ain't easy, but we're getting there. Expect some more story
recommendations on the site soon!
Okay, I feel a bit dumb for not doing this beforehand, but I've created a short application for potential staff to fill out. So if you're interested
in working for the site, please fill out this form and send it to me at
hera.undiscovered@gmail.com
Also, I'd just like to thank everyone that has showed this site some love. I'm completely new to this creating-a-website business, so the
whole process has been a bit intimidating so far. But your enthusiasm is a real motivator. Again, thank you very much :)
We have our first affiliate! Fiction With Bite specializes in supernatural gems from
FictionPress and Mibba. Check them out! :)
In the meantime, we're still trying to get things picked up off of the ground. I haven't gotten to the point of begging (yet) but I must say, wouldn't
I just love to have tons of recommendations and staff inquiries piled up in my inbox. That would brighten even my darkest of days. So if you're
hesitant about sending along an email, go ahead! Please, I'd love to hear from you. (Again, not begging yet... But that did sound desperate).
